Overview
Cryptopio is a cryptocurrency trading platform designed to provide a seamless and intuitive trading experience for both beginners and experienced traders. As the UX/UI designer, my goal was to create a visually engaging interface that simplifies complex trading functionalities while ensuring users can execute trades, monitor markets, and manage portfolios with ease.

Challenges
The main challenge was making cryptocurrency trading accessible to all users, as many found existing platforms overly complex and intimidating. The platform also needed a responsive and scalable design to ensure a consistent experience across desktop and mobile devices. Additionally, incorporating real-time data visualization without overwhelming users required a careful balance between aesthetics and usability.
Approach
I started with in-depth competitor research and user interviews to understand the pain points of crypto traders and identify areas for improvement. Using this insight, I designed a clean, modern UI with intuitive navigation, ensuring that essential actions like buying, selling, and portfolio tracking were easy to access. A modular design system was implemented to maintain visual consistency, while interactive elements and real-time charts were optimized to enhance user engagement without cluttering the interface.
Project goals
- Design a clean, intuitive interface for all users and provide customizable dashboards to prioritize currency prices and market news.
- Implement 2FA during onboarding and add biometric login options for enhanced security. Use educational prompts to help users understand these features.
- Develop user personas to guide the design, ensuring inclusivity for both novice and advanced users.
- Highlight key data like portfolio balance and recent transactions with a clear hierarchy. Use charts and graphs to simplify complex information.
User Flow
The user journey begins with a simple onboarding process that guides users through account creation and security setup. Once logged in, users land on a dashboard displaying real-time market data and their portfolio overview. From there, they can navigate to the trading section, where they can execute buy or sell orders effortlessly. Additional features like price alerts, market insights, and transaction history are integrated into the flow to ensure users stay informed and in control of their investments at all times.
Low-fidelity Prototype
The low-fidelity prototype is an early design representation focusing on layout and functionality, with basic wireframes outlining key components like the dashboard, portfolio overview, and transaction history. It helps validate the core structure and interactions, allowing for quick adjustments and feedback before advancing to high-fidelity designs. Its simplicity aids in identifying issues and refining the user experience early in the process.
Design system
The design system includes key details about the color palette, such as hex codes and transparencies, and typography, including font types, weights, and sizes. Additionally, I developed a collection of components with relevant variants, ensuring their reusability throughout the design process.
BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER
At this stage, all that’s left is bringing all the elements together— the features defined in the initial mockups, the app layout derived from the sitemap, and the UI features according to the design system.

Designing Cryptopio focused on balancing simplicity with advanced functionality to serve a diverse user base. Customizable dashboards and a clear information hierarchy support efficient cryptocurrency management.
